Vietnam Embassy and Consulates in Russia
Vietnam has three diplomatic missions in Russia: the Embassy in Moscow, the Consulate General in Vladivostok in the Far East, and the Consulate General in Yekaterinburg in the Urals. Russia is a huge country with a large Vietnamese community, and the three offices share the consular work between them. This guide is for Russian travelers, foreign residents in Russia and Vietnamese citizens living there. It gives the address, phone numbers, email and opening hours for each office, plus a few tips that can save you a wasted trip.
Good news first: most Russian travelers never need to visit any of these offices. Russian passport holders can currently visit Vietnam visa-free for stays of up to 45 days, and anyone planning a longer trip can apply for a Vietnam e-visa fully online. The embassy and consulates matter most when you need a special type of visa, help with Vietnamese documents, or support as a Vietnamese citizen abroad.
Which Office Should You Contact?
As a general guide, contact the office closest to where you live:
| Office | Mainly serves |
|---|---|
| Embassy of Vietnam in Moscow | Moscow, St Petersburg and European Russia |
| Consulate General of Vietnam in Yekaterinburg | The Urals and western Siberia |
| Consulate General of Vietnam in Vladivostok | Primorsky Krai and the Russian Far East |
If you’re not sure which office covers your region, call or email the nearest one first. Distances in Russia are huge, so it’s worth checking before you travel.

What Can the Embassy and Consulates Help With?
The three offices handle consular work for both foreigners and Vietnamese citizens. Services typically include:
- Vietnam visas issued at the mission, for travelers whose plans need one
- Visa exemption certificates for overseas Vietnamese and their family members
- Passports and travel documents for Vietnamese citizens
- Notarization and legalization of documents to be used in Vietnam
- Civil registration, citizen protection and support for the Vietnamese community in Russia
Do You Need to Visit for a Tourist Visa?
Usually not. Russian passport holders can currently enter Vietnam without a visa for stays of up to 45 days. Vietnam reviews this policy from time to time, so check that it’s still in place before you travel. For longer stays, you can apply for a Vietnam e-visa online without visiting any office or posting a passport. You fill in the form, upload a passport scan and a photo, pay, and receive the e-visa by email.
The embassy or consulates are the better route when your trip doesn’t fit what visa-free entry or the e-visa offers, for example certain work, study or other long-term stays. Each office sets its own document list and fees for these cases, so check with them before you apply.
Practical Tips Before You Go
A little preparation goes a long way with consular offices. Keep these in mind:
- Call or email first. Hours, phone lines and procedures can change, and some services may need an appointment.
- Check public holidays on both sides. The offices may close on Vietnamese national holidays, including several days around Lunar New Year (Tet), and on Russian holidays such as the New Year break in early January and Victory Day on 9 May.
- Mind the time difference. Moscow is 4 hours behind Vietnam and Yekaterinburg is 2 hours behind, while Vladivostok is 3 hours ahead. Russia doesn’t use daylight saving time.
- Check your passport validity. Your passport should be valid for at least six months from your arrival date in Vietnam.
- Count your days. If you’re entering visa-free, plan your trip within the 45-day limit, including your arrival and departure days. Staying longer means you’ll need a visa before you travel.
Russian Citizens Needing Help While in Vietnam
The Vietnamese missions above serve people in Russia. If you are already in Vietnam and need help as a Russian citizen, for example with a lost passport or an emergency, contact Russia’s own offices there:
| Office | Address | Phone |
|---|---|---|
| Embassy of Russia, Hanoi | 191 La Thanh Street, Hanoi | +84 24 3833 6991 |
| Consulate General of Russia, Ho Chi Minh City | 40 Ba Huyen Thanh Quan Street, Ho Chi Minh City | +84 28 3930 3936 |
| Consulate General of Russia, Da Nang | 22 Tran Phu Street, Da Nang | +84 236 3822 271 |
Contact the office closest to where you are. Many Russian travelers visit Nha Trang and Phu Quoc, and both are covered by the Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.
