Plenty of Time, One Simple Visa

Some trips deserve more than a few weeks. You might want to ride the whole length of the country, from the mountains of Sapa down to the Mekong Delta, without checking the calendar every few days. Maybe you’re working remotely from a café in Da Nang, spending time with family, or simply taking the slow route.

That’s what the 3 months single entry e-visa is for. It gives you up to 90 days in Vietnam on one entry, applied for entirely online, for the same government fee as a one-month visa.

What Is It, Exactly?

It’s an electronic visa that lets you enter Vietnam once and stay for up to 90 days. You apply online, receive your approval by email, print it, and show it at the border.

A bit of background helps. Before August 2023, Vietnam’s e-visa was capped at 30 days and open only to a restricted list of nationalities. Today, Vietnam issues 90-day electronic visas to citizens of every country and territory, with single or multiple entry. That change made longer trips much easier.

The “single entry” part works the same way as always: one way in and one way out. If you leave Vietnam, even for a quick trip to Cambodia or Laos, the visa is used up. A single-entry visa is valid for one entry and one exit.

Is It Right for You?

The 3 months single entry visa is a good fit if you:

  • Are taking a long trip. A slow journey through the whole country takes more than a month.
  • Work remotely. You’d like to settle in for a while with a flexible schedule.
  • Are visiting family or friends. Longer stays shouldn’t mean juggling visa dates.
  • Want a cushion. You’re not sure exactly how long you’ll stay, and you’d rather have extra days than too few.
  • Will enter Vietnam only once. No plans to leave and come back.

If your plans include leaving Vietnam and returning, our 3 months multiple entries option is the better choice. If your trip is short, the 1 month single entry visa may do the job.

How Much Does It Cost?

Your total has two parts: the government fee and, if you use an agency, a service fee.

Government fee. A single-entry e-visa costs USD 25, and a multiple-entry one costs USD 50, paid online by card. The fee is for the visa type, and it’s non-refundable, even if the application is delayed or rejected.

Our service fee. It depends for rush option which you will choose

Do You Even Need a Visa?

Maybe not, so check first. More than 30 nationalities can enter Vietnam visa-free for 30 or 45 days, under exemptions that currently run to 2028. If your nationality is on the list and your stay fits the allowance, you can skip the visa. But if you plan to stay longer than your visa-free period, the 90-day e-visa is the way to go. If you’re not sure which applies to you, ask us and we’ll check your passport and plans

How Long Does It Take?

The official processing time for the Vietnam e-visa is three working days. In real life, it can be a bit longer around public holidays and busy travel seasons. One guide recommends applying at least 10 to 14 days before your planned arrival. That’s a sensible cushion.

The Date Mistake That Shortens Your Trip

This one catches many travelers, so read it carefully. Your 90 days don’t start when you land. They start from the entry date you put on the application, even if you arrive later or the visa itself arrives late.

Here’s what that looks like:

  • You set July 1 as your entry date and arrive on July 1. You get the full window. For a 90-day e-visa, the exit date falls 89 calendar days after the entry date.
  • You set July 1 but actually arrive two weeks later. You only get 76 days in Vietnam.

The fix is simple: set the entry date to the day you really plan to arrive. Extra “just in case” days at the front come straight out of your stay.

Know Your Limits

A few honest points about what 90 days means:

  • It’s a hard cap. Plan around the 90-day limit, because it can’t be stretched.
  • It can’t be extended. The e-visa is not extended from inside Vietnam. If you want to stay beyond 90 days, you’d need to plan your exit and a new entry well in advance.
  • It’s a visitor visa, not a work or residence visa. Vietnam still has no dedicated digital nomad visa; the 90-day e-visa is a tourism and general visitor permit. If you work remotely, check the rules that apply to your situation.
  • Overstaying has consequences. It can mean fines, and for longer overstays, possible deportation. Mark your exit date in your calendar the day you arrive.

Tips for a Smooth Application

  • Match your passport exactly. Names, dates of birth, and passport numbers should be identical.
  • Check your passport validity. It should be valid for at least six months from your entry date.
  • Use a clear photo and scan. Blurry images are a common reason for delays.
  • Pick a valid entry port. Make sure your arrival airport, land border, or seaport is approved for e-visa entry, and remember that you cannot change the entry port once your e-visa has been issued.
  • Choose your stay carefully. If you might stay longer than 30 days, choose a longer validity now.
  • Don’t apply twice. If your status says “Processing,” that’s normal. It doesn’t mean something has gone wrong.
  • Print your e-visa. Keep a paper copy with you, plus a digital one on your phone.
