Short Trip, Simple Visa

You’ve got two or three weeks in Vietnam. You’ll land, eat your way through Hanoi, take a boat around Ha Long Bay, maybe finish with a beach in Da Nang, then fly home. You don’t need a visa that lasts three months. You need one that fits your trip, without extra fuss.

That’s what the 1 month single entry e-visa is for. It’s the simplest option for a one-time visit, and it’s done entirely online.

What Is It, Exactly?

It’s an electronic visa for one entry into Vietnam with a stay of up to 30 days. You apply online, receive the approval by email, print it, and show it at the border.

Two quick things to understand:

  • Single entry means one way in and one way out. If you leave Vietnam, even for a day trip to Cambodia or Laos, the visa is used up. If you plan to cross borders and come back, a multiple-entry visa is the better choice.
  • One month is the length of stay you choose when you apply. The e-visa can be valid for up to 90 days, so 30 days is a shorter option you select on the form.

Is a 1-Month Visa Right for You?

It’s a good fit if you:

  • Are visiting for a holiday or short break. Most tourist trips fit comfortably inside a month.
  • Will enter Vietnam only once. No plans to leave and return.
  • Want a clear, simple plan. Fewer days, fewer decisions.
  • Are visiting for a short business trip or event. Meetings, a conference, or visiting family and friends.

If your plans are still loose, it’s worth thinking carefully before choosing. The e-visa is not extended from inside Vietnam, so if you might want to stay longer, picking a longer validity from the start is safer than hoping to extend later.

How Much Does It Cost?

Your total has two parts: the government fee and, if you use an agency, a service fee.

Government fee. A single-entry e-visa costs USD 25, and a multiple-entry one costs USD 50, paid online by card. The fee is for the visa type, and it’s non-refundable, even if the application is delayed or rejected.

Our service fee. It depends for rush option which you will choose

Do You Even Need a Visa?

Maybe not, and it’s worth checking before you pay. More than 30 nationalities can enter Vietnam visa-free for 30 or 45 days, including most of Western Europe, the Nordic countries, Japan and South Korea, under exemptions that currently run into 2028. If your nationality is on the list and your stay fits the allowance, you can skip the visa entirely.

How Long Does It Take?

The official processing time for the Vietnam e-visa is three working days. In real life, it can be a bit longer around public holidays and busy travel seasons. One guide recommends applying at least 10 to 14 days before your planned arrival. That’s a sensible cushion.

The Date Mistake Almost Everyone Makes

This one catches many travelers, so read it twice.

Your visa’s 30 days don’t start when you land. They start from the entry date you put on the application, even if you arrive later. Here’s what that looks like in practice:

  • You choose an entry date of July 1, and you arrive on July 1. You get the full 30 days. For a 30-day single-entry visa, the exit date falls 29 calendar days after the entry date, because both the first and last day count.
  • You choose July 1, but you actually arrive on July 6. You only get 25 days, because the clock has been running since July 1.

The fix is simple: set the entry date to the day you actually plan to arrive, not earlier “just in case.” If you’d like some wiggle room, consider whether a longer validity makes more sense for your plans.

Tips for a Smooth Application

  • Match your passport exactly. Names, dates of birth, and passport numbers should be identical.
  • Check your passport validity. It should be valid for at least six months from your entry date.
  • Use a clear photo and scan. Blurry images are a common reason for delays.
  • Pick a valid entry port. Make sure your arrival airport, land border, or seaport is approved for e-visa entry, and remember that you cannot change the entry port once your e-visa has been issued.
  • Choose your stay carefully. If you might stay longer than 30 days, choose a longer validity now.
  • Don’t apply twice. If your status says “Processing,” that’s normal. It doesn’t mean something has gone wrong.
  • Print your e-visa. Keep a paper copy with you, plus a digital one on your phone.
