For Trips That Don’t Run in a Straight Line

Not every trip to Vietnam is simple. Maybe you’re starting in Hanoi, hopping over to Laos for a few days, then returning to fly out of Ho Chi Minh City. Maybe you’re a business traveler shuttling between Bangkok and Da Nang, or you’re building a Southeast Asia route where Vietnam appears twice.

That’s what the 1 month multiple entry e-visa is for. Instead of one way in and one way out, you can leave and come back during the visa’s validity, without applying again.

What Is It, Exactly?

It’s an electronic visa that covers 30 days and lets you enter Vietnam more than once within that period. You apply online, receive your approval by email, print it, and show it at the border.

Here’s how it differs from the single-entry version:

  • Single entry is used up the moment you leave Vietnam, even for a day trip.
  • Multiple entry stays active for the whole validity window. A single-entry visa is valid for one entry and one exit, while a multiple-entry visa stays active for the entire validity window.

The “one month” part is the validity you choose on the application. The e-visa can be valid for up to 90 days, and you choose single or multiple entry when you apply. Thirty days is a shorter option you select on the form.

Is It Right for You?

A 1 month multiple entry visa is a good fit if you:

  • Are combining Vietnam with neighboring countries. Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand are all easy side trips.
  • Travel for work. You go in and out of Vietnam for meetings and return within a few weeks.
  • Have a flexible, changing itinerary. You’d rather keep your options open than lock in a single route.
  • Want peace of mind. If there’s any chance you’ll leave and return, multiple entry costs a bit more but avoids a big problem later.

If you’re sure you’ll enter once and leave once, the 1 month single entry e-visa is cheaper and simpler.

How Much Does It Cost?

Your total has two parts: the government fee and, if you use an agency, a service fee.

Government fee. A single-entry e-visa costs USD 25, and a multiple-entry one costs USD 50, paid online by card. The fee is for the visa type, and it’s non-refundable, even if the application is delayed or rejected.

Our service fee. It depends for rush option which you will choose

Do You Need a Visa at All?

Possibly not, so check before you pay. More than 30 nationalities can enter Vietnam visa-free for 30 or 45 days, under exemptions that currently run to 2028. If your nationality is on the list and your stay fits the allowance, you can travel without an e-visa. Not sure? Ask us, and we’ll tell you honestly.

How Long Does It Take?

The official processing time for the Vietnam e-visa is three working days. In real life, it can be a bit longer around public holidays and busy travel seasons. One guide recommends applying at least 10 to 14 days before your planned arrival. That’s a sensible cushion.

The Date Mistake Almost Everyone Makes

This one catches many travelers, so read it twice.

Your visa’s 30 days don’t start when you land. They start from the entry date you put on the application, even if you arrive later. Here’s what that looks like in practice:

  • You choose an entry date of July 1, and you arrive on July 1. You get the full 30 days. For a 30-day single-entry visa, the exit date falls 29 calendar days after the entry date, because both the first and last day count.
  • You choose July 1, but you actually arrive on July 6. You only get 25 days, because the clock has been running since July 1.

The fix is simple: set the entry date to the day you actually plan to arrive, not earlier “just in case.” If you’d like some wiggle room, consider whether a longer validity makes more sense for your plans.

Tips for a Smooth Application

  • Match your passport exactly. Names, dates of birth, and passport numbers should be identical.
  • Check your passport validity. It should be valid for at least six months from your entry date.
  • Use a clear photo and scan. Blurry images are a common reason for delays.
  • Pick a valid entry port. Make sure your arrival airport, land border, or seaport is approved for e-visa entry, and remember that you cannot change the entry port once your e-visa has been issued.
  • Choose your stay carefully. If you might stay longer than 30 days, choose a longer validity now.
  • Don’t apply twice. If your status says “Processing,” that’s normal. It doesn’t mean something has gone wrong.
  • Print your e-visa. Keep a paper copy with you, plus a digital one on your phone.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many times can I enter Vietnam?

As many times as you need within the visa’s validity period, as long as you enter and exit through approved ports.

Can I extend a 1-month e-visa once I’m in Vietnam?

No. The e-visa is not extended from inside Vietnam. If you need more time, choose a longer validity when you apply.

What happens if I overstay?

Overstaying can lead to fines and, for longer overstays, possible deportation. Count your days carefully and leave before the exit date.

Is it worth paying more for multiple entry?

If you might leave and return, yes. If you’re certain you won’t, the single-entry visa is cheaper and does the job.

Can I change my details after I submit?

That depends on the status of your application. Contact us right away if you spot a mistake
